Anthropic launched Claude Dashboards and Claude Motion in beta. The new Claude Dashboards can turn questions about your company's data into live dashboards, while Claude Motion, on the other hand, can turn reports, charts, and product walkthroughs into short animated explainers you can download as a video.
Both fix a familiar delay. Getting answers from company data usually means filing a ticket or writing SQL. Ideas that would land better in motion usually end up as another static slide. Now you ask Claude for the finished piece, and you can see exactly how it was made.
Claude Dashboards: Plain-English questions, live answers
Connect a data platform such as Amazon Redshift, BigQuery, ClickHouse, Databricks, or Snowflake, then ask a question in plain language. Claude will write a SQL query for each chart, build the dashboard, and keep it current as the data changes. It also works with other connectors so that you can ask for a dashboard of your Salesforce opportunities.
Claude Dashboards are built for quick, exploratory questions, like how this week's signups compare with last month's. They do not replace your everyday BI stack. What you can do for deeper analysis is send the dashboard to tools like Amplitude, Grafana, Hex, Mixpanel, Omni, Perplexity, PostHog, or Sigma.
How to get the most out of Dashboards:
- Ask a question, not for a chart: "How do this month's signups by channel compare with last month's?" gets you further than "a signups chart."
- Name the source: If the data lives in a specific table or app, say so in your prompt.
- Audit any number: Click it to see the query behind it, or ask Claude to explain it. If it's counting the wrong thing, tell Claude what to change.
- Check freshness before you share: Each chart shows when its data was last refreshed.
- Refine in plain words: Try "Add a filter for region" or "Change this to a weekly view."
- Share on purpose: Dashboards are private to you, and you can later click Share when they're ready.
Claude Motion: Animated explainers from your own work
You can ask Claude to turn your quarterly report into a 30-second all-hands explainer. Motions allow you to add motion to a chart in a board deck or even build a product walkthrough for customer onboarding. The result plays like a short video, and you can download it as an MP4.
The key detail: Claude Motion doesn't use a video generation model. Claude writes code that animates your text, charts, shapes, and images. That means no generated footage and no AI-generated people. It also means you can change one word, number, or timing without disturbing the rest. To go further, open your animation in Adobe, Descript, HeyGen, Higgsfield, invideo, Luma AI, or Runway, with Canva and Captions coming soon.
How to get the most out of Motion:
- Start fast: Type /motion in the message box, pick Output > Motion, or choose a Motion template in the Artifacts tab.
- Brief it like a producer: Say who will watch, where it will play, and roughly how long it should run.
- Feed it your material: Attach the report, data, or images so the animation is built from your own content.
- Make surgical edits: Ask "Slow down the second scene" or "Change the Q3 number to 18%," or adjust it yourself in the editor.
- Watch your usage: Longer or more complex animations use more of your plan's limit than a typical message.
- Export when done: Click Export and choose MP4, or click Share to send a link.
Our take on Claude Dashboards and Motion
One of its biggest wins and a smart choice here is transparency. Every chart shows its query, and every animation is editable code, so you can check Claude's work before it reaches your boss or your board. Claude Dashboards is the easier win for most paid users today who need to build a dashboard that updates as your data changes. Claude Motion is the one to try if you're on Team or Enterprise plans and tired of static slides. Both are betas, so expect changes.
