NotebookLM by Google has been making a lot of highlights recently. If you are active on X (Twitter), you may have noticed people using NotebookLM to create podcaste. We also showed you how to turn PDFs into podcasts using NotbookLM a few days ago. It is safe to say Google's NotebookLM is currently one of the hottest AI products. You can take notes and create podcasts. Now, a new feature lets users build custom AI chatbots within NotebookLM.
As far as I have gathered, this feature is still a work in progress. However, if you had high expectations from the tool before, you must raise the bar higher! NotebookLM by Google may get a custom AI chatbot creation feature. The interface of the new feature looks similar to that of Gemini Gems. You can set a custom prompt on top of uploaded Notebook sources. These AI chatbots are meant to be sharable and potentially "embedded."
There is also speculation that the notebooks may also get an AI model selector. The AI model selector could let you switch between different Google models like Gemini Pro or Med-PaLM. However, for now, it is suspected that this is likely only used for internal purposes.
Coming back to the custom AI chatbots. You can give the AI chatbots a name and a welcome note and set up chats. You can rename your documents, add more resources, have a sharable notebook link, and embed bot link. Some people even call NotebookLM Google's real flagship product and possess a bigger range than Gemini.
